Colin Heads

Born and bred down in Southland on a sheep & beef farm. Colin did what many country boys did back in the day and went to Lincoln College (now Lincoln University) to play rugby and hopefully get a tertiary qualification at the same time. Eventually a Bachelor of Agricultural Commerce and Farm Management was obtained.

After graduation in 1987 Colin was employed by Primary Industry Bank of Australia (now Rabo Bank) as a rural lender based in Sydney. After a few years of rural lending the opportunity to broaden his experience into Corporate Banking came when offered a position at Daiwa Bank, a Japanese bank with its Australian head office in Sydney.

In 1993 Colin was awarded a 2-year scholarship to study Chinese at the Beijing Institute of Trade and Economics resulting in him not only becoming relatively fluent in spoken Chinese but also spending the next 15 years living and working in China.

Eventually the pull of family and the Kiwi lifestyle dragged him back to New Zealand where he co-founded TFC Capital in 2016.

Personally, he has a strong interest in assisting family-owned companies who have the know-how and experience in their chosen industry. Have done the early hard yards with their own capital but now need to grow to capture those all so important economies of scale.
